Senate Concurrent Resolution 530
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION DECLARING THAT THE LEGISLATURE SHALL NOT MEET ON THE THIRD MONDAY OF JANUARY, BEING THE LEGAL HOLIDAY HONORING THE BIRTHDAY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.; THAT THE NEW CAPITOL BUILDING SHALL BE CLOSED EXCEPT FOR CEREMONIAL USES AND THAT THE LEGISLATIVE AND OTHER EMPLOYEES WORKING IN THE NEW CAPITOL BUILDING SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED TO WORK IN ORDER TO OBSERVE THAT LEGAL HOLIDAY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That the Legislature shall not meet on the third Monday of January, being the legal holiday honoring the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the New Capitol Building shall be closed on the third Monday of January except for any ceremonial purposes arranged to honor Dr. King.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the legislative, gubernatorial and other employees working in the New Capitol Building shall not be required by their administrative officers to work on that legal holiday, with the exception of any necessary security or maintenance personnel.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Secretary of State, the Director of the Bureau of Capitol Facilities and the Governor.
